Beth Gourley, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Hello, and welcome! It can be so challenging to take this step, recognizing you need to make a change in some way. In my personal and professional experience, engaging in therapy can be an invaluable tool.
Practicing psychotherapy for the past fourteen years has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I have valued working with individuals from diverse backgrounds- and have so enjoyed learning from the strong and courageous individuals I am lucky to have called clients.
My work as a clinical psychologist has been heavily influenced by several years of working in healthcare and has shaped for me, the importance of approaching care from a biopsychosocial lens. That is, how the intersection of biological, psychological, and social factors influence our mental health and our ability to build a meaningful life. To this end, I greatly value working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including those with chronic health conditions, using therapeutic modalities with solid scientific evidence for their efficacy.
Clinically, I work exclusively with adults, however, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the mounting needs of families, I have trained and begun to provide treatment in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and related problems. More information about this novel, empirically supported treatment may be found here.
